According to the Android app my kids installed on my phone there are exactly 50 days left until Christmas. Seriously, wasn’t it just yesterday I was cleaning up the mess from last years Christmas day race to unwrap?
When I think about the holidays there are so many things I love about it. Decorating my house, making cookies with the kids (oh wait, that’s my mother-in-law not me), trimming the tree, and watching Elf. “My finger has a heartbeat”
Here is one thing that was never on my list. Wrapping gifts. It was done on the family room floor after hauling all the wrapping paper, gifts, tape, gift tags, etc. upstairs from the basement. Wrapping all the gifts while my back was ready to give out . Then lugging all of the wrapped gifts downstairs for hiding.
I am exhausted just thinking about it.
Enter a new plan. Two years ago my husband helped me construct a “wrapping center” in my basement. Here’s how we did it. One sheet of peg board from Lowes, one can of red spray paint, and peg board organizing kit. I added a folding table as my wrapping surface.
I really can’t tell you how much easier this makes the whole process. The wrapping paper all in one place, my scissors and tape at my fingertips.
I’m not saying that I love to wrap now, but with a cocktail in hand sitting at my wrapping station I gotta whole lot more Christmas cheer.
